4 Quadrants of Development Process Maturity

High performing development teams are no accident. Creating a successful team can be the result of hiring the right people, but more often it’s the result of understanding where to place your focus.

When a development team starts out, they often struggle to find their footing. Software development is one of the most difficult fields to stay relevant. The technologies you build systems with are ever changing and the processes you use are ever-evolving.

Regardless of technologies or process, there are two areas of focus that will define a successful development team:

  • Team Work: the team’s ability to collaborate efficiently, determine priorities, and quickly make decisions.
  • Automation: the team’s ability to make software changes, verify those changes, and release software quickly.
